Dogs and Cats

Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice. Dogs and cats living together. Mass hysteria!
Mayor: Enough! I get the point! And what if you’re wrong?
Dr. Peter Venkman: If we’re wrong, then nothing happens. We go to jail. Peacefully. Quietly. We’ll enjoy it. But if we’re right, and we can stop this thing, Lenny… You will have saved the lives of millions of registered voters.

It’s easy to deny global warming and those who do so stand to lose nothing (other than the socio/economical losses that we’ll all be facing together) if they’re wrong.

Environmentalists, climate scientists, entire scientific associations, societies, and journals have all staked their reputations on the premise that anthropogenic global warming is real. If they’re wrong, then nothing happens. We’ll have some extra windmills and solar power plants making electricity for us. They’ll be discredited and likely lose access to grants and funding for future research — their careers and livelihood at risk. They’ll go away. Maybe not quietly, and they probably won’t like it.

But if they’re right and we can stop this thing…
